Hydrophobia

Hydrophobia occurs due to biting of mad dog, cat or jackal, etc. 

Causes:-

When animals like- mad dog, jackal or cat, etc. have cut a person, poison is entered in his body with the help of the teeth or nails of that animal and makes that person a hydrophobia patient.

Symptoms:-

• Hydrophobia does not occur as soon as biting of an animal. Generally, its symptoms appear after 17-18 days.
• Common burning sensation begins to appear in wounds with itching around it after 17-18 days of the biting of mad dog.
• After that, the patient becomes irritable temperament slowly.
• The patient starts watching bad dreams; bright light is unbearable for him.
• The patient's neck becomes stiff after contraction of its muscles and having difficulty to swallow any thing. 
• The patient begins to feel difficulty in breathing and starts on fearing as soon as he sees water or any liquid.
• In Hydrophobia, the patient runs to bite other people, hit his head on the wall, begins to cries like a dog.

Treatmnet-

1. Belladonna:- If the patient runs to beat others due to swelling and heat in the brain, becomes angry, runs to bite anyone, scratch his cloth and afraid about water too, Belladonna 30 should be taken.
2. Lysine (hydrophobinum) :- Lysine is prepared from the saliva (poison) of mad dog. If the patient does not bear the sound of blowing water or becomes angry after hearing word 'pouring water', Lysine 200 should be taken.
3. Stramonium:- Stramonium is used when the patient has mental symptoms like- becoming angry, tearing clothes, running for biting or beating of anyone, etc. These types of symptoms are common in this disease. The patient goes on weeping slowly. 6th or 30th potency of this drug should be used to cure this disease.
4. Cantharis:- The brain of the patient gets hot badly, gets angry all the time, runs for beating others, begins to cry like dogs, the face gets turn yellow, wrinkles appear. With these symptoms, if the patient begins to afraid about water and having difficulty while urination, etc, giving him Cantharis is beneficial.
5. Hyosaymus:- If the muscles of the body feel stiffness especially in the throat and the patient feels sleepless at night, throbbing sensation appears from the eyes to thumb, etc., Hyosaymus 30 should be used in such symptoms of disease.

Some other treatment:-

• After that, the blood of the affected part should be brought out by sucking.
• Then, iron should be putted (placed) on the affected part after heating it.
• The patient should eat jaggery 3 times daily.
• The saliva of the patient becomes more poisonous after biting a mad dog. Thus, mix 125 g juice of the leaves of white madar with 125 g pure raw milk (without boiling) in a glass container together and give to the patient. It is beneficial.
• In the condition of dog biting, mix 20 g of the juice of thornapple, jaggery of sugarcane, cow's pure ghee, raw cow's milk (without boiling) together and should be taken in an empty stomach. After taking these things, the patient feels little intoxication, but when he comes out from this condition, stops behaving like a mad.
• If the patient feels intoxication after taking drug, he should take rice, lassee (a drink made of curd, water and sugar mixed together), etc. after taking bath. Sweet things should not be given to the patient until removing his madness (insanity) completely.
