Sphere of Action

Acts especially on mucous membranes, producing ulceration, intense burning, and tenesmus, particularly in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts. A deeper and more violent form of Mercurius.

General Indications

  • More acute, intense, and rapid than Mercurius solubilis
  • Rapid destruction of tissues

Rectum & Stool

  • Intense tenesmus of rectum and bladder — constant, ineffectual urging
  • Slimy, bloody, offensive, greenish diarrhea
  • Stool is hot, scanty, and passed with burning and cutting pains
  • Worse at night, during and after stool
  • Tenesmus continues even after stool is passed (Keynote)
  • Dysentery with much straining, but only a little blood and mucus

Urinary System

  • Painful, burning urination
  • Albuminuria
