LARYNGITIS

In this disease, the larynx gets swelling. There are several reasons for this swelling like- bacteria or infection, allergy, using much poisonous and chemical substance. There are two types of such swelling (laryngitis)- 1. Acute laryngitis, in which pain and infection presents. 2. Chronic laryngitis, that occurs in an adult and goes on persisting for a long time. Chronic laryngitis occurs again and again. It occurs due to over anxiety, remain sad and tension, etc. Due to laryngitis, patient is suffering from cough that makes the palate red. 

Symptom:-

In the case of laryngitis, patient feels dryness in his throat with hoarseness resulting he is not able to speak. If he tries to speak in the condition of hoarseness, he feels pain and has to expectorate for cleaning the throat. In this disease, sometimes the symptoms of fever are also apperared. 

Use of drugs in the case of acute laryngitis:- 

  1. Aconite-This drug has considered as very effective in acute laryngitis. Cough that starts from the larynx has pain; having difficulty in breathing and if swelling has occurred in the upper section of the air tube, etc., using Aconite is very useful in such symptoms.  If irritation occurs in the larynx; having violent cough; restlessness persists; fever occurs with having anxiety, etc., taking Aconite 3x at an interval of every half an hour is beneficial. 
  2. Spongia- In the condition of laryngitis, if Aconite makes no impression after 6 hours and whooping cough has occurred; hoarseness; is not able to speak, Spongia 3 should be taken. 
  3. Kali-bicrome- If the patient feels concentrated, like gum and thread phlegm in his throat and he has to afford hard to remove out that phlegm, Kali-bicrome 3x or 3 should be used at an interval every half an hour or take its 30 potency once in 2-3 days. It provides relief in this disease. 
  4. Hepar-sulph- If phlegm stuck inside the throat with cough and does not remove out easily, using Hepar-sulph 3 should be used at an interval of every 2-2 hours. 

Drugs that are used in chronic laryngitis:- 

  1. Causticum- In the case of chronic laryngitis, if voice does not comes out; the nerves of the throat becomes weak; phlegm is concentrated; feels urine with coughing, etc., Causticum 3 or 30 should be used. 
  2. Phosphorus- If irritation occurs inside the throat; having dry cough; the throat becomes yellow due to lack of blood (anemia), etc., use Phosphorus 30. This drug is also very useful in cough that originates from the air tubes below the throat. 
  3. Kali-bicrome- If phlegum like thread is produced in the throat and feels as if phlegm has stuck inside the throat and patient has to afford much for removing phlegm, Kali-bicrome 3x, 3, 30 or 200 should be used at an interval of every 3-3 hours. 
  4. Antim-tart- If phlegm is thicken inside the throat and whirr sound produces in the throat and white layer has coated on the tongue, etc., taking Antim-tart 6 at an interval of every 3-3 hours. 
  5. Manganum- In the case of chronic laryngitis, if symptoms like- dryness, roughness, contraction, T.B. of Larynx, etc. are found in the patient; phlegm thickens in the throat as much as it becomes unable to removed out; feels pricking sensation in the throat that is moved to the throat, etc., using Manganum 3 or 30 is very effective. 
  6. Hepar-sulphur- In the attack of dry cough originating from the larynx with coming out yellow phlegm, Hepar-sulphur 6 should be taken. If a singer has symptoms of hoarseness, this drug should be used. 
  7. Lachesis- If the patient is not able to tolerate throat pain even by little touch; removing liquid material or Saliva is also become difficult. If tonsillitis have occurred in the left side of the throat and if he goes on coughing due to becoming these tonsils as chronic; having difficulty to drink hot things, etc., Lachesis 3 should be used if Aconite, Spongia or Hepar are failed. 
  8. Carbo-veg- If cough starts with catarrh in old people due to weakness and malnutrition and in the last, it thickens in the larynx and the chest. Thus, Carbo-veg should be taken in this type of cough. It is also very useful in the cough of T.B. 
  9. Bacillinum- In the condition of chronic cough occurring in old age and in any type of cough, Bacillinum 200 or 1m should be used once in 10-15 days. If the patient is feeling relief in the throat disease, stop this drug. 
  10. Ars-Iodide- This drug is used in chronic laryngitis with symptoms of T.B. Taking 0.12 g of Ars-iodide 3x at an interval of every 8-8 hours is beneficial. 

What should we do or not in this disease:- 

  • In the condition of laryngitis, patient should speak less and give rest to the throat. Gargling with hot water is very useful. 
  • Careful about eating anything that it can not harm it. 
  • Taking too hot or too cold is harmful. Do not take chilly, cock, etc. 
  • Protect himself from smoke, fire flame and chemicals, etc. 
  • Keep the mouth and the nose covered with mask and do not take vitamin C and sour things, etc.
