1. Introduction
- The right
lymphatic duct is a short lymphatic vessel.
- It drains lymph
from the right upper quadrant of the body.
- Much smaller
than the thoracic duct.
2. Length
- Very short
– about 1.25 cm (½ inch) in length.
3. Tributaries
The right lymphatic duct is formed by the union of:
- Right
jugular trunk – drains lymph from the right side of head & neck
- Right
subclavian trunk – drains right upper limb
- Right
bronchomediastinal trunk – drains right thorax,
lung, and heart
4. Drainage Areas
It drains lymph from:
- Right side
of the head and neck
- Right
upper limb
- Right side
of the thorax
- Right
lung, right side of heart, and part of liver
Termination: Opens at the right venous angle – the
junction of:
- Right
internal jugular vein
- Right
subclavian vein
