MIND / MENTAL SYMPTOMS / PSYCHOLOGY
- Restlessness and anxiety with inability to think clearly
- Stupefaction, confused mind
- Inability to fix attention, mental confusion
- Appears frightened, tries to escape
- Delirium with violent brain symptoms
- Mental weakness after vomiting or diarrhea
- Crying, irritable children, especially during dentition
GUIDING SYMPTOMS (From Boericke and Allen's Keynotes)
- Cannot digest milk; it is forcibly vomited in large curds soon after ingestion
- Vomiting of milk and cheesy matter, followed by great exhaustion
- Great prostration after vomiting or stool
- Sudden weakness, child turns pale, sunken face, blue rings around eyes
- Sleep with eyes partly open (Gels., Sulph.)
- Spasms with clenched thumbs, eyes turned downward, foam at the mouth
- Cholera infantum with marked prostration and intolerance of milk
- Green, thin, offensive diarrhea
- Emptiness and sinking at the stomach
- Hot head with cold body
- Eyes sunken with dark circles, staring expression
- Pupils dilated, head retracted
- Face pale, pinched, cold, blue lips
- Convulsions after vomiting or diarrhea, especially in children during summer
VOMITING (AETHUSA CYNAPIUM)
- Vomiting of large curds of milk as soon as it is taken, especially in infants
- Milk is vomited in large, tough, white curds; forcibly and suddenly, with exhaustion
- Vomiting causes prostration – child becomes pale, weak, and drowsy afterward
- Cannot tolerate milk at all – key guiding symptom
- Vomiting may be followed by diarrhea and complete exhaustion
- Cheesy, sour, or foul-smelling vomitus
- Vomiting with spasms and convulsions (especially in children)
- Vomiting after every feeding – child refuses to feed again
- Marked sinking at the pit of stomach after vomiting
- Vomiting with cold sweat, sunken eyes, and blue lips
- Vomiting may also be associated with heat of summer, dentition, or spoiled milk
FEVER
- Sudden onset, violent, with brain irritation
- Face hot and red, but limbs cold
- Alternate heat and coldness
- Spasms and convulsions with fever in children
- Fever with mental dullness, restlessness, and vomiting
INDICATED ESPECIALLY IN INFANTS & CHILDREN
- Dentition complaints with vomiting of milk
- Summer complaints with brain involvement
- Sudden exhaustion after stool or vomit
- Difficult dentition with restlessness, convulsions
- Children who cannot stand milk – it is immediately vomited in curds
SKIN
- Cold and clammy, especially hands and feet
- Skin pale, dry, and shriveled
- Vesicular eruption around mouth or body in debilitated children
NEUROLOGICAL SYMPTOMS
- Epileptic convulsions, especially in children
- Spasms with downward movement of eyes, tightly closed fists
- Delirium with rolling of the head, brain irritation
- Mental confusion and coma in severe cases
