INTRODUCTION
:- Ledum Palustre is a great remedy for puncture wounds, insect bites, and gouty rheumatism
:- It follows Apis well and is a chronic of Hypericum
:- It is known for its “cold but worse from heat” modality, which is rare among chilly remedies
GUIDING SYMPTOMS
- Indicated in puncture wounds, bites of insects, stings of bees, needles, nails, etc.
- Injured part becomes cold, puffy, pale, and mottled, yet the patient wants cold applications
- Affected part feels cold to touch, but worse from warm application
- Great remedy for gout, beginning in feet and ascending upwards
- Ankles and soles are painful and swollen, especially in gouty diathesis
- Rheumatism starts in lower limbs and ascends, joints are swollen, hot, pale
- Cracking in joints with little pain, but stiffness and swelling marked
- Cannot bear heat of bed or warm covering; wants feet uncovered
- Complaints from alcoholic drinks, vaccination, insect bites
- Nosebleed in the morning, especially in young girls with suppressed menses
- Eye contusions from blows and injuries, especially black eye after trauma
- Skin cold, yet patient cannot tolerate warm application

- Sad, gloomy disposition with disinterest in surroundings
- Irritable, indifferent to pleasure or pain
- Weak memory, slow to think or act
- Anxiety without cause, especially about health

FEVER
Chill Stage
- Begins in lower limbs and spreads upward
- Coldness with shivering and trembling
- Skin feels cold and damp, patient wants cold air
Heat Stage
- Dry heat with no thirst
- Heat more in face and extremities
Sweat Stage
- Sweat mostly on face and chest
- Offensive, sour-smelling sweat
- Patient feels better after sweating

RHEUMATISM & GOUT
- Causation – From cold damp weather, injuries, or excess alcohol
- Sensation – “As if bruised,” pain worse from motion and heat
- Location – Small joints, especially feet, ankles, toes
- Modality – Ameliorated by cold application, aggravated by warmth of bed
- Concomitant – Chilly patient with pale, swollen joints; pain ascends upwards
SKIN
- Marked action in puncture wounds, stings, bites, and old ulcers
- Purple, mottled, ecchymosed skin after injury
- Useful in tetanic conditions after injuries
- Pimples and eruptions from alcohol abuse or bad blood
- Wounds do not heal easily, become cold and inflamed
