- Marked drowsiness, weakness, and respiratory distress – a key remedy for bronchopneumonia
CLINICAL INDICATIONS
Respiratory:
- Bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, emphysema, asthma
- Chest full of mucus with loud rattling, but unable to cough it up
- Suffocative attacks, especially in elderly or weak patients
- Cyanosis, cold sweat, and drowsiness
- Cough < 3 a.m., lying down; > sitting up
- Laryngeal catarrh, esp. in children with loud, choking cough
Children:
- Drowsy, pale, with rattling mucus
- Great sleepiness, weak pulse, low vitality
- Better lying on right side
Mind:
- Irritability during illness
- Drowsy, sluggish, apathetic
- Desires to be let alone
- Feels weak, despondent, hopeless when sick
General Weakness:
- Prostration, faintness, tendency to collapse
- Weakness after fever or chest infections
- Useful in last stages of pneumonia when reaction is poor
Gastrointestinal:
- Nausea, vomiting, esp. of mucus
- Diarrhea with debility
- Tongue coated thick white like Ant. crud., but Ant. tart. has more chest signs
TONGUE:
- Coated white (like Ant. crud.), moist
- Sensation of taste loss, dry mouth with thirst for cold drinks

CONSTITUTIONAL TYPE
- Flabby, fat, old people or children with low vitality
- Weakness, sleepiness, and cyanosis
- Prone to chest infections, drowsiness, and rattling mucus
POTENCY & DOSE
- 6C, 30C in acute bronchitis or pneumonia
- 200C or higher when symptoms are clear but patient is collapsing
- Low potency in children and elderly with weak reaction
